Interviewer:
What drew you to the world of aesthetic medicine and ignited your passion for helping people transform?
Dr. Bruno:
My journey into plastic surgery was driven by the creativity I saw in the field. As a general surgeon, I was fascinated by the multiple solutions plastic surgeons had for the same problem, be it covering a wound or addressing a deficit after cancer resection. This problem-solving approach became the foundation of my aesthetic practice, where I specialize in breast and body contouring procedures—including breast augmentation, lifts, reductions, revisions, tummy tucks, fat transfers, arm lifts, and thigh lifts.
The best part of what I do is transforming someone’s body within a span of a four or five-hour surgery. That’s truly rewarding.
Interviewer:
How do you consider the whole person and their emotional and psychological needs when developing treatment plans?
Dr. Bruno:
Over the last five or six years, I became interested in wellness and longevity and have taken a holistic approach. I altered my own diet due to health issues, and I try to share these strategies and tactics with patients, whether centered around nutrition, supplements, sleep, or exercise. It helps them recover better from surgery. But beyond that, it gives them a better opportunity to lead a longer, healthier life.
For several years now, I’ve been sharing this information with my patients, but I’ve also started organizing it to reach a wider audience. I developed a self-paced wellness and longevity digital course that can be completed in about six weeks. I’m also wrapping up a virtual coaching program designed to help patients optimize their body composition—lose fat, build muscle—which they can pursue after surgery.
Interviewer:
If you could summarize your philosophy into key principles, what would they be?
Dr. Bruno:
Many patients look for quick fixes, asking for the best home-use supplement or device. But wellness and longevity aren’t about a pill so much as they’re about the decisions and choices you make every day.
I’m trying to guide patients to make better choices in their daily lives. It’s really about the basics—nutrition, exercise, sleep—and if you’re consistent with those, you’ll notice you’re looking better, feeling better, and living longer. Yes, surgical procedures make very large impacts quickly, but overall wellness is crucial for long-lasting results.
As for my surgical philosophy, it’s about performing procedures that look like you didn’t have anything done—making results look natural, making someone a better version of themselves, not a different version.
Interviewer:
Can you recall a patient encounter that deeply moved you and helped shape how you approach your work?
Dr. Bruno:
One patient in particular stands out—a woman in her 60s who lost about 100 pounds through diet and exercise alone. We outlined a plan involving three surgeries over about 9-10 months. We started with a body lift, a tummy tuck with a vertical scar down the middle. Three months later, we did an arm lift and a breast lift with implants, and about three or four months later, a thigh lift.
She had very realistic expectations and understood that her transformation needed multiple stages. When I look at her before and after photos now, she looks like a different person—truly transformative.
“I just recently had a tummy tuck/body lift procedure with Dr. Bruno…This is not a cookie-cutter doctor who follows the same recipe with his patients. He is thoughtful, patient, and explains the why and how of a specific procedure, and why he thought it would be the right thing for me. A friend referred me who had a similar, yet different procedure…She said, “I trust him,” and I thought that was an incredibly huge recommendation and compliment. It was exactly what I wanted from my surgeon. I wanted a thoughtful plan, honesty, and someone I could trust. I did have several other consultations, and Dr. Bruno was my first choice, now, and if I have any other future procedures, I could not recommend him more highly.” – J. Miller
What makes these surgeries so rewarding is their psychological impact. Patients may have lost 100 pounds but still don’t feel good—they might feel like their heavier former self until the excess skin is removed. These surgeries allow them to finally live inside the new body they worked hard to achieve.
Interviewer:
What key takeaways do you hope Ailm Atelier readers will gain from your story of personal and professional growth?
Dr. Bruno:
My advice to patients centers around maintaining their results and overall wellness. If you want to maintain your new look, try to change something in your daily habits—whether that’s taking more steps each day or eating more protein.
Your doctor or healthcare provider won’t be as in tune with your health as you can be. You need to become the CEO of your own health. Going to the doctor once a year for bloodwork and being told ‘you’re normal’ isn’t enough. Be proactive—consider getting your own blood work done more frequently, using at-home testing kits, and taking more responsibility for your health. This approach will empower you to live a longer, more disease-free life.
